DESCRIPTION:SINAI AND CIVICS\nWith America approaching the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the ideas and values that helped shape our nation.\nWe are pleased to invite you to Sinai & Civics, a special free introductory event celebrating 250 years of civic responsibility and community service. The evening will feature the presentation of the Sinai & Civics Awards, honoring local individuals whose volunteerism and commitment to the common good continue the timeless tradition of giving back.\nWe are honored to have the American Jewish Heritage Torah —the only Torah of its kind— with us at the event. Since the event coincides with Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, there may also be an opportunity for a short reading in this special Torah.\nPatriotic refreshments will be served.\nThis event will also launch our upcoming four-session JLI course, Sinai and Civics: The Jewish Ethics that Shaped America’s Founding.\nTogether, we’ll explore fascinating questions such as:\nWas it always self-evident that all people are “created equal”? What does the “pursuit of happiness” actually mean from a Jewish perspective? How did Jewish ethics influence America’s system of checks and balances?
