Kristallnacht & Israel Solidarity Event
Kristallnacht & Israel Solidarity Event
Thursday, November 5, 6:00 PM | Clifton Park–Halfmoon Library
Hosted by Clifton Park Chabad
Please join us for a special talk with local author Peter Balint, author of the memoir The Shoe in the Danube: The Immigrant Experience of a Holocaust Survivor, a remarkable story of survival, resilience, and self-discovery.
Born during an air raid in Budapest in 1944, Peter’s early life was shaped by war, loss, and displacement. After fleeing Communist Hungary, his family returned to Germany and eventually immigrated to Albany when Peter was just 13 years old. Drawing from his memoir, Peter will share his journey of uncovering his past, understanding his roots, and navigating the cultural divide between his European upbringing and his new life in America.
As we commemorate Kristallnacht, this meaningful evening will provide an opportunity to hear a living story of the Holocaust and its aftermath—reflecting on resilience, memory, and the courage to begin again. We will also stand with Israel, 3 years since October 7.
